Architectural photography is always more than a mere description of form and material.
It is a matter of statements, moods, and understanding of aesthetical and emotional concerns.

In my photographic works, I deal with what surrounds us every day: architecture. My fascination lies in how the idea of an architect, engineer, developer or builder becomes reality and thus the designed space also becomes public space. In constant dialogue with my clients, I explore these ideas and concepts and try to understand and internalise them. This is an important element of my thorough preparation and planning. My knowledge as a trained photographer and my many years of experience as an architectural photographer enable me to highlight the character of the building in its real environment. Photography becomes documentation.

Some objects require a different approach, for which the medium of film is ideally suited, so I also use it on request to realise my clients' vision. My work should invite the viewer to make the designed space comprehensible.

Samuel Holzner, born 1989 in Silandro, South Tyrol (Italy). He attended the School of Photography in Hall in Tirol and, after graduating in 2008, first assisted for Oskar da Riz in Bolzano and from 2010-11 for Florian Holzherr in Munich. Samuel Holzner has been a certified master photographer since 2010 and works as a freelance photographer since 2013, specialising in architectural photography.
